MASS (Multi Ammunition Softkill System)

Product information
MASS works by detecting approaching threats and deploying camouflage or distraction measures to reduce the likelihood of enemy weapons hitting their targets. Rheinmetall's MASS system uses a variety of jamming munitions to counter various threats. These include:
1. Radar (RF) jamming munitions: These munitions emit spoof signals to confuse or mislead enemy missile radar guidance systems. They create "false targets" on the radar screen, making it impossible for the missile to accurately determine the true location of the ship.
2. Infrared (IR) jamming munitions: These munitions emit heat to distract infrared-guided missiles. By creating a heat source more powerful than the exhaust heat of a ship's engine, IR munitions can trick missiles into thinking their true target is elsewhere.
3. Laser jamming munitions: Used to interfere with a ship's laser guidance systems missile, this projectile emits a laser beam to disrupt the missile's ability to identify its target.
4. Anti-torpedo projectile: This is an additional component of the MASS system, allowing warships to deploy anti-torpedo projectiles to distract or destroy approaching torpedoes. It can be equipped with 1 to 4 anti-torpedo jamming tubes with a diameter of 130mm according to NATO standards. The system uses a variety of jamming projectiles, against ballistic, infrared, radar or laser guided missiles. MASS can be configured to suit the specific needs of each ship, from small patrol boats to large warships such as destroyers or aircraft carriers. It can also be integrated into the ship's combat system to provide a comprehensive defense solution.
Main features
The fully automated MASS system includes the following unique features:
• Lightweight carbon fiber launcher structure.
• Concealed design, compact launcher size, easy to deploy and install.
• Active real-time defense tactics.
• Always balanced, automatically compensates for wind and tilt due to wave motion.
• One type of ammunition for many different tactical situations.
• Reload time (32 chaff rounds) less than 1 minute per launch.
• Fully computerized deployment, launch direction arrangement and classification of threats, conditions and operating environments. In addition, the system can be integrated with on-board sensors to automatically detect and respond to threats, or can be manually controlled from the ship's command center. MASS provides a versatile and flexible defense solution, capable of adapting to diverse threat situations on the modern battlefield.
